An Integrated Approach

Patients arrive at my door for various reasons and in various states of health. Some have a specific set of symptoms, like a cold, the flu, a sore back, or a headache while others may have had an injury or physical trauma. Some patients have been sick or felt poorly for a long period of time and are hoping to find a way to feel better. Perhaps having been told by a traditional medical practitioner that surgery was the only answer, other patients are looking for alternative ways to approach their conditions. Still others have experienced some important degree of health and success and want to find a way to improve and/or maintain their high performance. Whatever the reasons, patients who come to my door can be assured that they will have access to a wide range of services.

My commitment to develop the many dimensions of my practice arose from my own experience. As a youth and adult, I had experienced a range of difficulties from a learning disability to allergies to injuries sustained as a result of my professional dancing. Having come from a family rich in traditional medicine, and having been disappointed at the inability of practitioners to help me fully recover and develop the kind of vitality I wanted to have in my life, I began investigating alternative ways to improve my own health and life. Much to my satisfaction, I did find approaches, techniques, and strategies that enabled me to achieve and maintain my health and vitality. I then realized that other people, too, were searching for ways to be healthy. I returned to school to develop my expertise, pursuing degrees and certificates in a number of fields.

In addition to being committed to offering a range of services, I am also dedicated to treating my patients as individuals. Because I believe that each of us has a body, mind and soul, and that these dimensions are interrelated and interact, I treat the whole person. Any effective long term treatment or health plan, therefore, must acknowledge and utilize the synergy created by the way in which these parts of ourselves work together. The presence of these multiple dimensions also means that each of us is different enough from one another to require individualized diagnosis and treatment. Clear communication is especially critical in my practice because of the complexity of individuals. I ask lots of questions in my search to learn about the person and his or her situation and health.

As noted elsewhere in my website, I offer chiropractic, nutritional, and craniosacral care. I also offer homeopathy, massage, and acupuncture/acupressure. And I provide wellness consulting and coaching services for those are working towards high performance. All of these services are available to patients. The choice of approach depends on what the patient needs and wants. The patient and I decide on what is the most productive approach to helping the patient achieve her or his goal. This integrated approach addresses not only the complexity of individuals, it addresses the complexities in the lives of my patients.

My goal for patients is to ultimately achieve a high degree of health. Often when people are ill or in pain, it is hard to see the bigger picture of their overall health. While patients are focused on finding immediate relief, I keep in mind both the current situation they are experiencing and the larger picture. While offering a range of approaches to help resolve the immediate problem, I believe that having multiple approaches is also important in the long term shift to improved health. Patients usually experience the move to a higher degree of health in stages. Patients arrive at my door for various reasons and in various states of health. Some come because they are experiencing a specific set of symptoms, like a cold, the flu, a sore back, or a headache. Some may have had an injury or some kind of physical trauma. Others have been sick or felt poorly for a long period of time and are hoping to find a way to feel better. Perhaps having been told by a traditional medical practitioner that surgery was the only answer, other patients are looking for alternative ways to approach their conditions. Still others have experienced some important degree of health and success and want to find a way to improve and/or maintain their high performance.
